B. Which symptom best matches?
B1: Performance feels weak - Is this a new symptom?
Any recent work/changes (install, hoses, parameter updates, welding)?
Actions (new/recent change)
- Re-flash ECU
- Inspect for leaks
- Review parameters & run Startup Tool to verify pressures
- If unsure → D (Phases). If error code → C (Error Codes)
Do system pressures reach target on Startup Tool?
Actions (hydraulic supply issues)
- Suspect weak pump, pilot, or S1/S2 polarity
- Check suction restrictions, charge/return filters
- Use Startup Tool trends; if 84/90/121 → C
Startup Tool Help
Need help with the Startup Tool? Go to Branch D for detailed assistance.
Is the PTO/coupling actually driving the pump?
Inspect drive components
- Inspect PTO clutch, key/coupling, tone ring/coupler
- Verify PTO ratio params (Phases)
Actions (software/parameters)
- Review engagement ramps/limits
- If welding/ECU corruption suspected → reflash (D)
- If 157/197/128 → C
Do you have Phases software?
Parameter checks
Verify: PTO Ratio, Front/Rear Tire Size, Diff Ratio, Motor Displacement
If unresolved → eztracservice@tdsdrive.com, (844) 289-3987
Phases Download/Setup
You need Phases software to check parameters. Go to Branch D for download and setup help.
B2: System kicks out at times (guided sequence)
B2.1 — Is it kicking out above a certain MPH?
Action: Designed for 1st/2nd gear (~12–16 mph). Above that PTO turns off but remains armed.
B2.2 — Are you getting an error code when it kicks out?
If Yes: Note the code & conditions; see C (Error Codes); record speed/load/temp
B2.3 — Does it seem to happen on long hills?
If Yes: Check oil level or faulty level switch (loss → shutdown ~5s)
B2.4 — Does it shut down consistently after a few seconds?
If Yes: Likely generating a fault; watch for code or view stored errors in Phases
B2.5 — Shuts down randomly without a pattern?
Action: Check switch wiring, connector water ingress, and level/pressure sensor harness. ECU may get an unintended disengage signal.
B3: System is overheating (menu hub)
Cooling fan isn't working
- Check fan relay/fuse
- With relay commanded, test power at fan plug
- Repair wiring/relay/fuse/fan
Cooler fins / airflow issue
Clean fins; ensure airflow; replace if damaged.
Overheats after long runs
Review cooling capacity vs application; verify charge pressure and cooler flow; consider bigger cooler/airflow.
Sensor / calibration concern
Verify temp calibration in Phases; inspect wiring/5V/GND; if erratic/out-of-range see C (98, 102).
Still overheating

I keep getting error 117
Meaning: PTO turning when ECU not commanding
Normal with piggyback pump; if not, inspect PTO; see C → 117
B5: Doesn't seem to pull at all (choice menu)
Button flashes but PTO doesn't come on
Go to Branch A engagement troubleshooting for detailed diagnosis.
Light goes solid but PTO never comes on
Go to Branch A engagement troubleshooting for detailed diagnosis.
Engages but effort is light
Action: Check pressure parameters in Phases; test Extreme Mode.
Seems to be fighting the truck
Action: Verify PTO ratio, diff ratio, tire circumferences, motor displacement.

B6: Noise / vibration
Review: driveline/u-joints, mounts, alignment, cavitation, case-drain, pump coupling.
B7: Loud engagement / disengagement
Review: Valve and motors can make a thud or clack sound for less than a second. If long or more violent, check parameters.
B8: Rear wheels spin and fronts do not / one front spins
Answer: This is quite normal. We are essentially an open differential and not physically linked to the rear wheels. If one front wheel spins, the other has equal torque to spin. We also provide torque up to the relief of the pump. If severe, it could hit relief valve.
B9: Doesn't auto-engage / re-engage
Review: If it won't auto re-engage, you either went over the "armed" speed or it faulted out when it disengaged. To check armed speed connect with EZ TRAC software or check error codes in software.
